The \u201cPals\u201d, as they are affectionately known to fans, teamed up in 1946 and quickly became a mainstay on West Coast radio for the next 12 years, also performing nationally on CBC Radio and Television, as well as on numerous international TV shows. The \u201cPals\u201d were the first Canadian singing group to appear on American television. In 1958, after moving to Toronto, where with Tommy Hunter, they replaced the \u201cHappy Gang\u201d on radio, eventually moving on to TV where they were regulars on CBC TV&#8217;s \u201cThe Tommy Hunter Show\u201d.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n                    <\/div>\n                    <div class=\"split-repeater__blocks grid grid-cols-1\">\n                                    <div class=\"grid grid-cols-1 md:grid-cols-2\" style=\"background-color: #0a0a0a; color: #fff; \">\n                        <img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/soundcheck.ccma.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/07\/18_The_Rhythm_Pals.jpg\" alt=\"Three smiling men in matching dark studded shirts pose with musical instruments: a bass guitar, an acoustic guitar, and an accordion, in front of a red background.\" class=\" \">\n                        <div class=\"content-box \">\n                            <p>The \u201cPals\u201d recorded a series of albums and in 1966, scored two number one hits, \u2018Iron Town\u2019 and \u2018This They Say Is Me\u2019, on the Canadian charts. They went on to win three Juno Awards, including \u2018Best Country Group\u2019. The Rhythm Pals garnered international success and acclaim, including acknowledgment from the British Monarchy.
